This is my first post in the last 4 days (and my first access to the internet). Everything went into fast motion the moment I got here. Just an update though. I am having a blast!
The 13 hour trip was less than enjoyable (sleeping was such a chore). Upon arriving at the LAX, it's like we had to rush for everything. Immigration. The baggage carousels that took forever. Check in. Oh yeah. My first four hours in LA
. This was just for the connecting flight to Phoenix. That meant another two hours in a plane.
Now I'm in my Aunt's house here in Arizona. But we spent quite a lot of time after arriving on the road. Just a day after we arrived, we were booked for California. A 7-hour drive from where we were. But it was great to meet my remote family after such a long time of traveling. We spent the rest of the day in Hollywood (Will post pictures soon). After that I was SO HAPPY to be invited to a Bible study in a Cambodian Household. There were asians and a medly of different races as far as the eye can see! Some Laotians could even pass as Filipinos! But it was refreshing to be among spiritual family again
. After that, we decided to call it a day.
My uncle wasn't kidding when he said we were gonna have the time of our lives in California. We had to get up extra early the next day for our stop to Disneyland. Oh where do I even begin? It was nothing like in the Philippines. And indeed I am proud to say that I have braved the infamous SPACE MOUNTAIN. This was just one of the many rides and thrills I enjoyed in my day in Disneyland (Indiana jones, Space tours & Nemo's underwater tour to name a few). The day ended with a spectacular display of fireworks and a show too. You could just imagine how tired we were after all that.
Still I had a full day ahead of me the following day. I was kinda excited to finally get to attend the local chuch in Pasadena and get to see the Ambassador college ('cause that's where my mom went to college). My mom finally met with her Bestfriend whom she hasn't seen in 11 years! We had dinner with their family and spent our last night in California back in the hotel after.
We were on the road again early the next day. For Vegas
. Not to gamble. I'm too young. Plus the casinos reeked of cigarettes and liquor. We toured places like the VENETIAN and the famous CAESAR'S PALACE. My own little slice of greece in America. We stayed for some choice "family" shows and then spent the rest of the day bowling till 2am.
The ride back home to Arizona was long. But I'm glad we're back. I'm just getting started though. That was just the first week of my stay here. In just a matter of days, I'll be boarding another plane to Washington. Alone. That's what I'm really excited for.
Of course my trip wouldn't be complete without snapping a lot with my trusty camera.
I'll post the pictures real soon. I barely have enough time now to spend in front of the computer.
I miss everyone already!
